The Simple Guide to Successfully Quit Vaping
Escaping addiction does not need to be difficult.
Based on my journey.
The truth...
I searched the most effective way to quit vaping and realized that every top-ranked page was extremely over-complicated. The articles presented every potential fact, strategy, trigger, and pitfall, overwhelming you to the extent that by the time your done reading, you have already given up. Drawing from my personal journey, quitting is not difficult unless you convince yourself it is. Breaking free from vaping can be simplified into three straightforward steps.
Step 1: Find a better alternative.
Preferably ZYNs
In my case, spending time with friends who vaped served as the catalyst for my cravings. While trigger occurrences vary for everyone, the majority can relate to this scenario. When that craving strikes, pivot from your vape to tobacco-free nicotine pouches, nicotine gum, or nicotine patches. Among these alternatives, I highly recommend tobacco-free nicotine pouches. Thanks to a TikTok user known as freezertarps, I discovered ZYN's nicotine pouches—my lord and savior in quitting. Also dubbed as zynbobwe, zyneas and ferb, and zynnachino (a wink to golfers in their 20s), ZYN stands out among many other nicotine pouch brands as my favorite.
You might be thinking, "Isn't it just as harmful?" or "How can I eventually quit the replacement?" Allow me to present the reasons these alternatives outshine vaping:
- Improved Well Being: Unlike vaping, these alternatives won't leave you feeling like trash. That sore throat you wake up with every day? Goodbye. Remember the days when you could step outside, take a leisurely walk, and savor a lungful of invigorating fresh air? Probably not... but it's still possible to rediscover! The anxious feeling does not disappear, but it significantly reduces it's grip.
- Respiratory Health: The most damaging avenues of nicotine consumption are vaping and smoking. In my small town, I've encountered narratives of around 20 young people who have experienced collapsed lungs. The majority of my friends struggle to cover even half a mile on foot. Conversely, I've yet to hear any alarming reports from the alternatives.
- Natural Slowdown: While the majority of vapers are puffing most of the day, these options allow for a natural slowdown. Many disposable vape brands offer up to 5,000 puffs! You cannot tell me that this is not a recipe for disaster. Any vaper understands that the greater the amount of puffs, the more you indulge in hits without restraint. ZYN, on the other hand, contains only 15 nicotine pouches in a single container. This fosters the feeling that you have to savor them, paving the way for a natural slowdown.
- Gradual Reduction: By gradually decreasing nicotine levels every month or two, cravings tend to diminish, making it smoother to quit nicotine entirely. Though this approach can also be applied to vaping, it didn't yield successful results for me. Here's why:
Let's consider nicotine pouches as an illustrative example. When reducing pouch strength, it is natural to use a consistent number of pouches, despite the decreasing milligrams. In contrast, with vaping, compensating for nicotine reduction involves taking more puffs to match the previous level, making the process counter-productive. The crucial difference here is that vaping is less structured in terms of measuring nicotine intake. Puffs are less quantifiable than physical pouches, and this lack of clear measurement can lead to unintended and counterproductive behaviors.
Don't worry about gradual reduction right now. The goal is to quit vaping, not the alternative. This is just a list of reasons why you should make the switch for the long-term.
Now that I have convinced you to make the transition, this is the only other MUST DO of this step.
It is ESSENTIAL to start with six milligrams of nicotine for your replacement. For the first month or two, the alternative has to be strong enough to mimic the buzz you get from vaping, and three milligrams ain't doin it. In turn, this DIMINISHES your cravings. And when you have no cravings, you have no thoughts. With that tying to our next section, the stage is set for the upcoming step.
Step 2: Don't overcomplicate things.
When you turn a paper plane into an engineering project, it's more likely to crash than fly.
I know, an article designed to counter overcomplicated articles tells you not to overcomplicate things. This step may seem basic, but it is extremely overlooked and was a vital factor in my journey. Quitting vapes isn't brain surgery. I've failed quitting at least twenty different times because I would flood my brain with thoughts. Do not think about if you will gain weight, how bad the withdrawals will be, or every possible quitting strategy known to mankind. EXPEL THESE THOUGHTS. Never, ever think about vaping or anything related to vaping again. This is all mumbo jumbo to give you a reason to keep vaping. You do not miss your vape, and your vape does not miss you. Your thoughts project your actions, and fixating over your quitting journey will only lead you to disappointment. The same goes with anything. The more you dwell on that new Xbox, upcoming vacation, or smoking hot babe, the more you want it.
Step 3: Control your hands.
You're the top dog of your temple!
Observe your hands and move them. Start waving. Transition to air drumming. Embark on a finger breakdancing routine. Now, don't touch your vape. There is no need to practice all this self-control guru bogus. You already govern your own body, so simply refrain from permitting your arm to perform the motion of grasping your vape. Do not attempt to persuade yourself that you cannot resist because of your withdrawals. Your alternative will take those away. This easy technique was the cornerstone of my successful journey to quit vaping.
So, the magic formula to quitting encompasses:
- Discovering your 6 milligram alternative to combat cravings.
- Drifting your mind away from any vaping-related thoughts.
- Refraining from touching a vape with your hand.
As I mentioned before, quitting is incredibly uncomplex. If you trick yourself into believing that it requires a multitude of thoughts, you are bound to fail.
